Among the Fae scattered throughout the city, most still worship their old pantheon of nature gods, and although worship is not illegal, it is looked down upon by human society. Within the Fae Slums, a more organized group of worshipers known as The Church of Sylvia exist. They keep their meetings regular, but secret, and often in varying locations.
The Church of Sylvia teaches intends to keep traditions of old Fae culture alive within the city of Madrenice, as well as spread the truth about the history of the gods that the Church of the Great Craftsman tries to hide. According to the human religion, The Great Craftsman created the world and defeated the other gods that tried to usurp his rule. The Church of Sylvia, however, teach that The Great Craftsman originally worked alongside the other gods to create the world, but the nature gods that the Fae worship prefer the more natural order of the world as they first created it whereas the Great Craftsman believed the world could be built for more greater things, and that if left be that chaos would reign. Desiring a more constructed and orderly world, he appeared before the humans and taught them craftsmanship and technology so that they may take control over the other magically gifted races. He even gave them the clockwork magic designed to suppress the natural magics of the Fae. After losing the wars against the humans supported by the Great Craftsman, the nature gods were weakened until they could just maintain their natural domains and could no longer assist the Fae. And the sea gods abandoned the land gods in favor of the Merpeople, although Merpeople will still occasionally worship the other nature gods when needed.
